Anthony Neufeld, 18, was killed Sunday after he lost control of the truck he was driving and rolled off the road on Hwy. 16 east of Edson, 490 km north of Calgary.

Edson RCMP said he was not wearing a seat belt and was ejected from the truck.

“He was a remarkable kid,” Neil Neufeld, Anthony’s father, said yesterday.

Neil said his son’s true passion was his music and he aspired to be a professional performer.

“He loved guitar — he would have loved to play his music for a living,” he said.

“He sang about incidents in his life, things that happened to him, about Sunday mornings.”

Neufeld was even a finalist in Ducky’s Idol held at Ducky’s Pub, 2100 4 St. S.W., has been referred to as Michael Buble, and the focus of a Facebook group called “Anthony Neufeld Should Be Famous.”

Neil said he’ll also remember his son for his kind, giving heart and strong love of God.

“Anthony had a strong faith and we’re relying on that,” he said.

His friend Ashley Nicol, 17, said she’ll remember Neufeld for his beautiful singing voice, happy personality, and his friendship.

She said he cared for everyone, loved his family, always helped his friends with problems, and could do anything he put his mind to.

“They say the good die young and it’s really unfortunate he had to be the one who had to go.

“He had a lot to offer the world and it’s really sad he’s gone.”

Neufeld is also survived by his mother Darlene and sister Katrina.
