Home Schooling Your Kids -How to Prepare

Public and even private schools face many problems today, which is why home schooling is now a popular choice among many parents. Between lack of funding, very large classes, drugs and crime, it’s no wonder that many parents are having second thoughts about public schools. Many parents believe they have the right to decide what their children should be learning, and home schooling allows them to have this control. Before you begin home schooling, however, you should be prepared for what is actually involved.

Home schooling may not be as rigidly structured as conventional schooling, but you still want to make sure you have certain standards. There are different style of teaching, and you may nor may not want to give your kids tests similar to those given in public and private schools. It is important to test, however, so that you know where your kids are in regard to the subject matter being taught. Certain performance levels are definitely mandated, especially in certain states, so testing must be done to some degree. Regardless of state laws or requirements, it is essential that you monitor where your kids are in regard to comprehension through some format of formalized testing.

Both Frank and Andreas approaches to harmony and rhythm at the start of this tune typify the Gypsy jazz style plenty of diminished and chromatic phrases bolstered by tight, driving rhythms comprised of sparse yet complex chord voicings. Later in the performance, we hear Andreas introduce more blues-based note choices with Frank following suit with his chord voicings and rhythms. Frank then explores a few blues phrases before the boys break into a classically-themed section, illustrating just how far the Gypsy jazz style can be taken. The piece wraps things up while exploring a more traditional approach.
