As the coordinator and lead teacher of a music school that offers Los Angeles and Orange County piano lessons, guitar lessons, voice and music lessons, I have been asked this question a lot. Futhermore, having been in the music industry as a working musician/composer, I thought it would be helpful for me to answer this question.

Music theory is somewhat of a mystery when it comes to learning an instrument at times. When it comes to teaching music, whether it is piano, guitar, drums, violin or voice, it is crucial to teach some theory but to what extent would be a better question posed.
