Nomadic at heart as well as a designer at their core, Zoe Boekbinder (they/them )was born upon a ranch into a household of four kids. For them, songs is as required and all-natural as breath, and the way they involve as a protestor. Boekbinder was raised, in part, by their grandfather– a Holocaust survivor. Having actually made it through the dreadful, prejudiced violence of his past, he instilled in Boekbinder a deep idea in justice. Songwriting has become their resistance language. Boekbinder is one of the beginning designers of the Prison Music Project as well as the not-for-profit album, Long Time Gone, which Salon called “one of the most hypnotically singular-sounding launches of the year.” Dr. Angela Davis said “it’s truly effective and also needs to circulate much more.” The tunes were composed in partnership with 9 guys put behind bars in New Folsom Prison where Boekbinder offered, teaching songs, for 5 years. Boekbinder’s upcoming document will be made by, executed by, produced by, and also promoted by a group of individuals of marginalized genders.
