If you are looking for a toy, you are in the right place. It is just that…a plastic toy. It will not tune. THIS IS NOT A BEGINNER’S GUITAR!!!

Cheap, plastic, toy guitar

Cheap, plastic, stupid, guitar. If you are serious about your child learning guitar, spend another 80-100 bucks and get 1/2 or 3/4 sized Yamaha acoustic guitar. The Yamaha can be tuned, it will stay in tune, and it will sound like how a guitar should thus making the learning process so much easier and better. If you want a toy guitar that your kid can use as a wiffle ball bat or light saber this is your guitar.

I bought it for a child to learn on, we have an older one made of wood (I got the model No. from it). I was able to tune the older guitar, but she wanted a new one. It can be tuned somewhat, but it can not be played because the frets deaden the string when fretting a chord. Very displease. I fixed the older guitar with the bridge saddle I also purchased and put the string I also bought through Amazon and it can be tuned and played. First Act Inc. is a very old company and I expected better from them. I taught guitar since 1972 and was always able to match a student to a guitar unless they already had one.

Great quality, buy this over the cartoon theme ones

You know those Disney or cartoon theme cheap guitars in stores? This is nothing like them and it’s the same price or cheaper. This is a great quality solid first guitar. It requires constant tuning, but that’s because it’s being lugged around by a 5yo. It comes with some learning music and the keys (knobs at the top of the neck) are color coded. Really pleased with this toy purchase online. If you’re looking for a first guitar that isn’t crappy, this one is great. PS I (my kid has) have owned a crappy cartoon one and, never again!!

I would recommend something else….

It’s okay. I have a couple of acoustic guitars and bought this for my daughter who was 5 at the time. The whole thing is plastic. Be prepared for a plastic sound. The neck doesn’t align right in all locations and string or chord playing at different neck positions results in muted or resonant sounds because of differences in the neck. It’s fun for my 3 year old and younger, but i ended up buying my daughter a jr. guitar from Guitar Center on July 4th sale since she was seriously interested in learning.

Of no use, musically

Do not buy this guitar if you hope the recipient will learn anything about a real guitar like simple chords or tuning. I tuned all open strings appropriately (have been playing guitar for 50+ years). For $25, I did not expect this to be a finely balanced instrument where the notes were exact from the nut to the 12th fret, but on several of the strings the note at the first fret was three half steps above that string’s open note. For instance, the first fret on the A string was a C instead of an A sharp. Any attempt to play a chord resulted in what sounded like a random combination of notes. This toy is for pretending to be a guitar player. It is not a musical instrument.

Great for a toddler

I purchased this last year for my then 2 year old for Christmas. The coloring is similar to her Grandpas guitar & I thought she’d enjoy being his twin. I don’t know anything about guitars so I can’t say much other than my 2 year old loved it. It was light enough for her to hold it & play at the same time. My Dad tuned it &I was able to play real songs on it. It sounds almost like an ukelele. I think this is an awesome product especially for the price.

VERY HAPPY WITH THIS PURCHASE!

I ordered this guitar for my 4 year old granddaughter, not for a toy, but because she expressed a sincere interest to learn to play. I play guitar so I know a little about it. I searched the internet for the best and found this one which is the perfect size for her. I got the guitar with nylon strings so they would be softer on her little fingers. I read a review about the strings breaking and not staying in tune…….but you have to understand that if you start out tuning too high, the strings will be too tight, so tune it a little on the loose side. Also, guitar strings stretch, especially nylon, and you will need to re-tune a few times (this goes for any guitar). I didn’t have any strings to break and after a couple of days they stayed in tune. This guitar is durable, has a great sound, and perfect for a little superstar to learn to play. She loves it!
